Tigray ceasefire

Ethiopia declared a unilateral ceasefire in its Tigray region on Monday. The announcement said it would allow “farmers to till their land, aid groups to operate without any military movement around.” There were immediate celebrations in the regional capital of Mekelle and Tigray forces were seen returning to the city. The ceasefire means an end to nearly eight months of fighting that has pushed hundreds of thousands to the point of starvation.
