US and UN Human Rights Council signal new stance on Egypt

For seven years, as the human rights situation in Egypt has deteriorated, the United Nations Human Rights Council remained silent. Until now. The largest number of countries in the HRC’s history have joined together to condemn Egypt, including the Biden administration. As The World’s Rupa Shenoy reports, the joint resolution on behalf of 31 countries calls for the council to pass a resolution establishing a process to document human rights abuses in Egypt.
