Canada’s Parliament declares China’s treatment of Uyghurs as ‘genocide’

Canada has become the second country to make this designation after the US last month, shortly before Donald Trump left office. China has condemned Canada’s motion. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said before UN Human Rights Council on Monday that “There has never been so-called genocide, forced labor, or religious oppression in Xinjiang.” Host Marco Werman speaks with Mehmet Tohti, the executive director of the Uyghur Rights Advocacy Project in Canada.
