Over the past three weeks, thousands of protesters took to the streets across Russia in support of opposition politician and Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny. Earlier this week, Navalny was sentenced to more than 2 ½ years in prison on trumped charges. Now, many of those protesters have been detained with thousands in jails and holding cells across Russia. Over the past few days, photos have surfaced of the crammed, unsanitary conditions inside these jails. Marco Werman speaks with Sergei Davidis, the head of the Political Prisoners’ Support Program and council member at the Memorial Human Rights Center.
