Q-pop band sparks gender expression conversation in Kazakhstan

After being inspired by South Korea’s K-pop genre, a band named Ninety One pioneered “Q-pop,” or Qazaq-pop, in Kazakhstan. But when they made their debut in 2015, their tracks weren’t the only things making headlines. The World’s Bianca Hillier reports on the conversations about gender expression that have been sparked by the band’s appearance.
