The Trump administration’s lasting damage to the Arctic Council 

The Arctic Council is a diplomatic forum consisting of the eight countries and Indigenous communities that encircle the North Pole. While this council had been relatively stable for decades, the Trump administration put pressure on the group by downplaying climate change and antagonizing other countries. Former US State Department Arctic official Julie Gourley watched the transformation in real time.
