France cracks down on ‘Islamist separatism’
There have been two suspected attacks by Islamist extremists in the past month in France. In the wake of those events, France is having a national debate about Islam. French President Emmanuel Macron has remained firm on the French principles of secularism and free speech. And, he's calling on Muslim leaders to help "reform" the religion, and adapt it to French values. He's also pushing a new proposed law that would crack down on so-called "Islamist separatism."
