Palestinian refugee becomes Spanish citizen after discovering her Jewish roots

For most of her life, Heba Iskandarani, a Palestinian refugee who grew up in Dubai, searched for a pathway to citizenship — in any country. Surprisingly, her research of her family tree led to the discovery that she is of Sephardic Jewish origin. That allowed her to request — and obtain — Spanish citizenship.
