Halloween threatens traditional holidays in Catalonia

Halloween has been celebrated in the US for well over a century now — but in places like Spain, it’s only recently arrived. The holiday’s popularity has grown over the last couple of decades thanks in large part to American cinema and television. But in Spain’s northeast region of Catalonia, Halloween is starting to threaten more traditional holidays celebrated around All Saint’s Day.
