Belarus governments say police will fire on protesters if necessary

From exile, Belarus opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya called for a national strike on Oct. 26 if President Alexander Lukashenko has not left office. But in Belarus, police have been given permission to use lethal force against protesters, if necessary.  Gennady Kazakevich, the first deputy of the Interior Ministry, said in a video statement: “We will not leave the streets, and law enforcement officers and internal troops if necessary will use riot control equipment and lethal weapons.” Marco Werman speaks with a human rights expert on the latest from Belarus.
