Famous ‘Mafalda’ cartoonist dies

The World

Joaquín Salvador Lavado, the creator of Latin America’s most beloved comic strip, “Mafalda,” has died. “Mafalda” was often referred to as the Spanish version of “Peanuts.” “Mafalda” is not well-known in the English-speaking world, but almost every Spanish speaker knew the character and her creator, better known as Quino.
