A soul singer from Japan dies and lives on in the Americas

Host Marco Werman tells us about Japanese soul singer Mieko “Miko” Hirota, who died July 21. We hear from Pablo Yglesias — also known as DJ Bongohead — that he has a Miko 45 “Cumbia of Love” that he plays at regular speed for some parties in the US and half-speed for Mexican dance parties where the groove is slower.
