Meridian, Mississippi — population, about 40,000 — has been home to Nigerian writer Sefi Atta for the past 20 years. The playwright and novelist also spends considerable time in Nigeria and has lived in the UK. Atta speaks with Marco Werman about how she has come to understand race and racism in America.
