Do “instant” COVID-19 tests work?

The World

A number of so-called “instant” tests for COVID-19 are being developed that could offer results within minutes. That could expand testing dramatically and help hospitals in the most vulnerable of places: elder care homes. But the instant tests need to be evaluated to see if they’re any good. In the UK, that job has fallen on the University of Manchester. Their COVID-19 National Diagnostic Research and Evaluation Platform (CONDOR) is testing all the UK’s COVID-related diagnostic tools. The World’s host Marco Werman speaks with Rick Body, professor of emergency medicine at the University of Manchester and co-leader of the CONDOR project.
