With Tehran still reeling from Qasem Soleimani’s assassination, mounting US sanctions and an economic crisis, the coronavirus pandemic has caught Iran in a difficult period. This may explain why Iran reportedly decided to reduce its military presence in Syria. Is this part of a wider shift in Iran regional strategy?
