Congress has passed two coronavirus-related spending bills totaling hundreds of billions of dollars in the past two weeks to provide relief to some Americans in the form of paid sick leave and unemployment help. European countries are doing the same, but they differ in their focus, from saving businesses to suspending mortgage payments. Marco Werman compares the US and European approaches to providing economic relief to their citizens with Matthew Slaughter, a global economics professor and the Dean of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
