Since Nicolás Maduro came to power in 2013, more than 15,000 Venezuelans have been detained for political motives, according to a new UN report. The country now has the largest number of political prisoners in the Americas. Marco Werman speaks with Alfredo Romero, a human rights lawyer who provides pro-bono legal assistance to Venezuelan detainees and political prisoners. He says the government of Nicolás Maduro uses arbitrary detentions are a key form of political intimidation.
