Ecuador reinstates government subsidies on fuel, ending nearly two weeks of protests

For nearly two weeks, Ecuador’s indigenous communities have been protesting a decision by the government to end long-standing government subsidies on gas and diesel. Last night, the government struck a deal with indigenous leaders to reinstate fuel subsidies. In return, indigenous leaders have agreed to end protests.
