Drivers in Nigeria have long been unimpressed when the automated voice on Google Maps mangled a local street name with a British lilt. But now those drivers can get directions in “Nigerian English.” Kola Tubosun, a speech linguistic project manager at Google (via Talentwise), tells host Marco Werman that the new accent is controversial, but still manages to invite more people to access technology.
