The ‘show trial’ and sentencing of a Chechen activist
A court in Chechnya has sentenced Oyub Titiev, a prominent human rights activist, to four years in a penal colony after finding him guilty of possessing illegal drugs. His supporters say the charges were trumped-up and that the judicial process was a veritable show trial. Host Marco Werman speaks with Rachel Denber of Human Rights Watch about Titiev and what his sentencing says about the Kremlin-backed regional government of Chechnya.
