Prison friendship

The World

Dozens of women have been imprisoned in El Salvador in recent years, charged with aborting their babies, even though the women say they’d, in fact, experienced miscarriages. Author Michelle Oberman met with two women who served time for what they say were obstetrical emergencies. Oberman tells Marco Werman about how the women protected one another in prison and formed a deep bond.
