The British royal family occupies an odd spot in popular culture. Queen Elizabeth II has been on the throne for decades, Princess Diana was adored until her death, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge — better known as Prince William and Kate — have their every move followed. But Prince Philip, who doesn't often receive such adoration, may have the most interesting story.
