The State Department is having trouble filling staff positions at the new US embassy in Baghdad. So it's going to stop asking Foreign Service officers to volunteer for duty. And start ordering them to go to Iraq. The World's Matthew Bell reports.

Anchor Lisa Mullins speaks with The World's Quil Lawrence, who is in northern Iraq, about Turkey's military operations against Kurdish rebels. Turkish troops have been battling PKK rebels near the border with Iraq -- and the Turkish government has warned that it could launch an incursion into northern Iraq to pursue the militants. Iraq's foreign minister says a Turkish invasion would be a disaster for the region.

Today in the southern Iraqi province of Karbala, a military parade and ceremony was held to mark the transfer of control from US to Iraqi forces. Iraqis now officially control 8 of the country's 18 provinces. Anchor Lisa Mullins gets details from the BBC's Jim Muir, who's in Baghdad.
