An exploding island in the Galapagos is on our Geo Quiz radar. The island were looking for is formed by a "shield volcano". It resembles an overturned soup bowl, but a 250-square mile soup bowl.

It's considered the most active volcano in the Galapagos Islands. It last erupted 4 years ago.

Roman Bernudez is a guide with the Galapagos National Park...over the weekend he's was one of the first to see this volcano spew lava and smoke:

"It was very spectacular! We could see the lava pushing up 45 feet in height and it was also possible to see the rivers of lava going down hill so it was amazing!"

Rivers of Lava continue to pour out of fissures and flow into the ocean. No one lives on the islands - as for the colonies of sea lions and marine iguanas - Bernudez says they're not at any great risk:

"There are some iguanas and sea lions around but nothing wrong is going to happen to them, For sure they will run away, walk away from it and look for some safer place."

Geologists say the volcano could continue to erupt for days or weeks. But you on the other hand --- have only have about 10 minutes ---- to name this volcanic island that's putting on a show in the Galapagos.
