We're looking for a remote mountainous province of Afghanistan, one of Afghanistan's 34 provinces.
Pakistan lies to the east. The provincial capital is the city of Parun. Alexander the Great may have have passed this way back in the 4th century BC along with his horsemen, foot soldiers, chariots and fighting elephants. Nowadays this province is well off the beaten path.
