Manhattan of the Desert
|
Imagine it's late Friday night and you're in the old walled city of Shibam in Hadramawt. A wedding celebration is underway. A band plays in one of the main squares as locals dance and mingle.
Shibam is a world heritage site in the Middle East, a 2000 year old city the edge of the Arabian Desert. The music echoes off the distinctive tower houses made of mud bricks. They were first built back in the 16th century and some rise up as high as 9 stories.
That's why this place is sometimes called the "oldest skyscraper city in the world."
We've mentioned the name of the city...all that's left for you to do is name the country.
Don't dance the night way on this one, the answer's here...
