We're off to Poland for today's Geo Quiz.
We're searching for a port city. 27 years ago this month, shipyard workers here started a strike against the Polish government.
The strike began peacefully. At one point, a group of professional musicians performed for the demonstrators. But in time, things turned nastier. The tactics of the Polish police enraged the strikers, who called the police, "Gestapo."
The strike eventually led to the collapse of communism in Poland and the Soviet Union. It all started in the city we're looking for, the birthplace of the Solidarity Union movement. We'll have the answer, and update what's happening now in the historic shipyard, in today's Geo Answer.
