In November 1993 the BBC's World Affairs correspondent Allan Little reported from Bosnia on the conflict there. In this Radio 4 documentary, Little recalls the terrifying day he came into contact with foreign Muslim fighters, the so-called Bosnian mujahideen, who had made their way to the Balkans to train and fight.

A giant white horse is to be Britain's newest work of public art. It's partly designed to welcome visitors to England. Turner Prize winning artist Mark Wallinger isn't concerned about the aesthetic effect of a 50 meter (164 ft) high thoroughbred horse. "I don't have to worry about the aesthetics of this piece. Generations of horse breeders worked that out for me centuries ago." American horse whisperer Monty Roberts agrees: "this man is a genius...there's an incredible sense of balance and symmetry to the horse". Many art critics are won over too. As are the children at a school overlooking the site. The sculpture is intended to echo the various ancient white horses cut into chalk hillsides across southern England. "I just want people to go Wow!" says Wallinger.

He was used to such intimidation but on January 8th he was killed as he drove to work. His wife Sonali Samarasinghe Wickrematunge later discovered that her husband had written an editorial predicting his own death. Jenni Murray of the BBC program Woman's Hour spoke with Sonali.

Exactly thirty years ago this Tuesday, the regime of the Shah of Iran collapsed, to be replaced by the Islamic Republic. The effects of that revolutions are still being felt. But inside Iran itself, most of today's population were not born when those momentous events were taking place. Our Tehran correspondent Jon Leyne has been examining the impact of the revolution, three decades on.

In recent months, Sri Lanka's military has routed the Tamil Tiger rebels from much of the de facto state they controlled in the north of the South Asian country. Reporting the conflict hasn't been easy since most journalists and aid groups are barred from the area and the government has been cracking down on critical journalism. The BBC's Chris Morris sent this report from Sri Lanka's capital Colombo.

Rupa Jha introduces a montage of voices who talk about why peddle power matters in New Delhi, India. The bicycle is fundamental to one of the city's essential economies - the newspaper delivery industry. The program features deliverers who take us on their route across New Delhi. They share stories of what impact the bicycle and their job has had on their lives. For one 19 year old it is a way of funding his studies, and for another deliverer the income has helped to support his family.

There were never going to be rich but how are bicycle messengers fairing in the midst of the present economic crisis? In this Radio 4 documentary the shared anxieties of messengers from New York and London are recounted in the context of the global economic meltdown.

Are the families of those who carry out terror attacks 'victims' too? There's controversy in Northern Ireland today over a proposed $20,000 government payout to all families bereaved in the conflict there - whether their loved ones were civilian bystanders or the bombers themselves. Between 1969 and 1998 more than 3,000 people died in 'The Troubles'. "There's no difference in a mother's tears," is one reason given for the proposed payouts. The idea comes in a report by Northern Ireland's Consultative Group on the Past. But there were angry protests at the report's publication in Belfast today. Ed Stourton, anchor of BBC Radio 4's Today show, discussed the controversy with one of the report's authors - the former leader of the Anglican Church of Ireland, Lord Eames.
