Robert Ferrante brings a wealth of experience in broadcast journalism to his post as executive producer of The World. A one-hour daily radio newsmagazine offering a mix of international news, in-depth features, and music from around the globe, The World is heard by more than two million listeners each week on public radio stations nationwide.
Ferrante joined The World in 1998, returning to WGBH after a nine year tenure as executive producer of National Public Radio's Morning Edition and seven years with CBS.
"I'm thrilled to lead The World's superb international production team," Ferrante says. "It's a young program on a growing public radio network that wants to do something different. It's really a producer's dream."
After graduating with a Communications degree from Boston University and launching his career at CBS, Ferrante joined WGBH in 1971 as News Director of WGBH Television, and in 1978 created the former Ten O'Clock News, which won a New England Emmy two years later. In 1982, Ferrante ventured back to CBS, where he served as executive producer of the CBS Morning News as well as CBS's Nightwatch program.
