It's always interesting to hear what listeners make of some of the less familiar sounds in our global hit.
The music that often gets the most attention is the stuff that's simple and rootsy and whose artfulness doesn't feel calculated. Some might call it REAL music.
Well, last night at the Grammy awards was a good one for that REAL music.
One album in particular by Brit Robert Plant and American Alison Krauss.
"Raising Sand" picked up five Grammy Awards.
It was put out by Rounder Records, not one of the MAJOR labels.
Scott Billington is Vice President of Artists and Repertoire at Rounder Records.
He says the folks at Rounder were blown away when "Raising Sand" turned out to be the Grammy champ.
"I think we're still all in shock Marco. It was quite a surprise..."
And before WE'RE gone, the record is Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Alison Kraus.
It picked up five Grammy Awards last night.
