MARCO WERMAN: Before we head to the break we wanna just touch on the story that's captured the imagination of people, not just in the country but around the globe, and that of course would be the extraordinary water landing of U.S. Airways Flight 1549 on the Hudson River in New York City yesterday afternoon. Thanks to the skill of pilot Chesley Sullenberger the Third, there were no fatalities. All 155 people on the Charlotte-bound flight got off safe and sound. The BBC Program "World Have Your Say" has been getting comments from all over the place, just a few to share with you right now.
Here's Helene in the Channel Islands, U.K. "And as a cabin crew member myself, I would like to mention the fantastic job of the cabin crew and also the First Officer did, to save all the passengers. Well done, I'm so proud of my fellow cabin crew."
Here's somebody in Baku, Allen in Baku, Azerbaijan downplaying the world miracle: "The fact that everyone is safe is down to the engineers who designed, built and maintained the aircraft."
And here's another comment from Noor Amed in Pakistan: "Captain Chesley, you are the man of 2009, may God bless you."
