LISA MULLINS: A Hollywood movie set in the Indian city of Mumbai won the jackpot at the Golden Globe Awards last night.
Slumdog Millionaire is the story of a young Indian man searching for love and competing for money. The movie won four Golden Globes in Los Angeles, including the one for Best Drama.

MOVIE CLIP: I'm ready.

LISA: It's likely that Mumbai itself was ready for some good news. Last November terrorists attacked prominent parts of the city. Last night the producer of Slumdog Millionaire, Christian Colson, said that the Golden Globes would thrill the Indian filmmakers on his team.

CHRISTIAN COLSON: We had the great privilege of working the fantastic cast and crew who will be going nuts as they watch this tonight.

LISA: The attacks of last year targeted some of Mumbai's most famous locations. But Mumbai filmmaker Prahlad Kakar says that Slumdog Millionaire shines a spotlight on less well known parts of the city.

PRAHLAD KAKAR: It's something that grabs you by the scruff of the neck, and drags you through the slime, the gutters, the life in the alternative world of Mumbai, which is the slums, which we see every day, but we tend to ignore. And we know what goes on there but we tend to pretend that it doesn't actually exist.

LISA: Prahlad Kakar thinks the movie is going to appeal to the residents of those Mumbai slums.

PRAHLAD: They're the ones who actually watch movies, much more than anybody else, as not once but five times over, especially if they're big hits. And I think this is going to become their film, it's going to be their anthem.

LISA: Slumdog Millionaire is scheduled to open in India next week. It's already been dubbed into Hindi.
