Jake Shimabukuro can do amazing things with the ukulele. You might think that, like Shimabukuro, the uke comes from Hawaii.

It doesn't.

It came to the islands in 1879, carried by one of 500 Portuguese sugar cane workers. Hawaiians loved the instrument and starting playing it.

But no one has played it quite the way Jake Shimabukuro does.

A few years ago, a video of Shimabukuro playing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" became a monster hit on You-Tube.

A few weeks ago, he came in for a demonstration.
