Interview with U Gawsita

One of the most visible young monks leading the protests in Burma was U Gawsita. The Buddhist monk escaped last year after the crackdown. The World's Marco Werman speaks with U Gawsita about how his life has changed since then.

U Gawsita is now living in Utica, New York. As part of our effort to get pro-democracy activists from around the globe to address the American presidential candidates, we asked U Gawsita to write a letter to John McCain and Barack Obama describing what he hopes the next American president will do to help bring democracy to Myanmar, also known as Burma.
