Good spelling can be rare, especially in this age of text messages. But there's hope.

288 excellent spellers under the age of 15 are competing in the Scripps National Spelling Bee -- now underway in Washington. The Bee has an international flavor this year.

Kids from South Korea and Ghana are participating for the first time. They're competing alongside others from Canada, New Zealand and the US.

We caught up with one hopeful just after a grueling "round one."
