There are lots of imitations, but real Pashmina scarves and shawls are made from the soft wool of goats raised in a remote region of India:
"Ladakh is the region, it in Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh is a cool desert region where this Pashmina goat is reared at a very high altitude, its found only in Ladakh."
