We leave the biosphere in Mexico and head to one in South America for today's Geo Quiz.
This biosphere is close to the Andes Mountains. In fact, start at the northern end of the Andes and go south. Stop at the equator and you're in the country we're looking for.
This country has many diverse regions. They include big patches of the Amazon jungle. One such patch -- in the country's northeast -- is called Yasuni National Park. The United Nations has designated it a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Environmentalists claim the reserve contains more varieties of plants and animals than the US and Canada combined. But the area is also rich in oil. The country's government plans to start bidding for oil projects there in June.
Unless the international community comes up with a whole lot of cash. Time's ticking on this environmental gamble. And on today's Geo Quiz. So name this South American country that straddles the equator.
