This is Rwandan musician Jean-Paul Samputu. Like many in Rwanda, Samputu was personally affected by the 1994 genocide.
He lost both his parents and three siblings to the violence. Samputu says music helped him to heal.
Now, he hopes that music can help heal other young musicians who were also orphaned during the genocide.
Jean-Paul Samputu has formed a musical group called Mizero Children of Rwanda.
The group's on a US tour at the moment.
Which is why Samputu and group member Olivier Ndayishimiye were able to come into our studios.
Samputu explained what he hopes the kids in the group will get out of the experience.
SAMPUTU: "You know music speaks directly to the heart and the music is healing. And it's because of the music that why they're here.. They are the best musicians, the best dancers. And also, the message is important behind what they do. It's a message of peace, reconciliation, and forgiveness".
NDAYISHIMIYA: What Jean-Paul did for me is a miracle. When I sing and dance it brings hope. And when we are performing we are very happy.
