You may recall Ray Parker Junior. He wrote and played the theme to Ghostbusters.
You remember..."Who you gonna call?"
A Ray Parker Junior musical biography might well end there for most people. In the years since his heyday, Ray Parker Junior has had some additional production credits.
He's also been on the lookout for musicians who are as dedicated as he is to funk. He found one...a trombone player...in Sweden.
That voice -- and the rhythm guitar -- belong to Ray Parker Junior. The jiggy trombone solo belongs to Nils Landgren.
The 51-year-old Swede studied classical trombone at college in the early 70s. He then shifted to jazz.
But Landgren always had a soft-spot for funk. So, in 1994, he introduced his band, the Nils Landgren Funk Unit, at a German jazz festival.
And Landgren's been the head of that funk unit ever since. Here, Landgren and the Funk Unit are joined again by guitarist Ray Parker Junior. But this number, "24 Hours," is composed and sung by Nils Landgren.
The just-released CD by the Nils Landgren Funk Unit is called "Licence to Funk."
