That's where a 95-year-old blogger has made news in recent months. Her name is Maria Amelia Lopez, and she's a great-grandmother. Her blog has made her a celebrity in Spain. She's been interviewed countless times on Spanish TV and radio. In one interview, she described how it all started. She said that last year she noticed one of her grandchildren reading things on his computer.

So, she inquired –

MARIA AMELIA LOPEZ: "What's that? It's the Internet. And what's the Internet mean? He said it's something that lets you find out anything you want -- right away. And I said, what do you mean right away? Can I just find out about so and so's life -- or get in touch with someone -- just like that? Yes, he said. Wow, that's out of this world, I told him. I want one."

Maria Amelia's grandson did even better -- he set up a blog for his granny. Her first entry reads -- my grandson -- who is very stingy -- gave me this blog for my birthday. Maria Amelia enjoys filling it with her views and memories. She's blogged about her hometown, her new great-grand-daughter, and her political views. She's a lifelong socialist, by the way.

Using a keyboard is hard for her -- so she talks, and her grandson does the typing. At first, Maria Amelia says she thought it wouldn't amount to much.

MARIA AMELIA LOPEZ: "I never imagined that so many people would write me -- from all over the world. I thought, at most, maybe I'd hear from two people here in Spain."

In fact, hundreds of thousands have visited Maria Amelia's blog. She gets messages from all over the Spanish-speaking world. And she's been featured by news outlets from Argentina to Australia. Maria Amelia says all the extra interaction and attention has brought a little extra spark to her life.

MARIA AMELIA LOPEZ: "I'm very excited about this. I wish I were younger, so I could dedicate myself more to learn this. So that I could really master the Internet."

The 95-year-old has already mastered one important fact about the Internet. Bandwith. She knows you need it to speed things up on your web browser. But her neighborhood doesn't have broadband yet. So Maria Amelia Lopez is using her blog to pressure the phone company to get with it.

MARIA AMELIA LOPEZ -- AUDIO FROM HER WEBSITE: "I want you -- phone company -- to immediately give us broadband. There already is broadband just 3 kilometers from my house. So it can't be that hard."

No harder than blogging when you're 95 years old.
