Tegan and Sara are the identical twin darlings on the indie rock scene this year.
The twins are from Canada, grew up in Calgary, to be precise.
But for the past five years, they've separated, Tegan lives in Vancouver, Sara in Montreal.
There's no musical distance between them, though.
Tegan and Sara have just released their fifth album.
It's called "The Con."
Tegan and Sara are pleasantly surprised to be part of a rash of Canadian indie bands making waves in the US at the moment.
Tegan says time has worked in their favor.
TEGAN: You know when we started putting records out it was 2000 and I remember when we would see posters for bands and we would get really excited because those were Canadian bands that we knew. It felt like unless you were the Barenaked Ladies or Alanis Morissette selling millions of records that you just didn't have any success in the US. So, it's been really exciting over the last eight years to see so many more Canadian bands.
WERMAN: Sara, do you think Canadians have a different voice in pop music?
SARA: I do think there is a voice. There's a lot of European and British influence in Canada and there's a humor or sarcasm to being a Canadian. But, I can't really tell the difference between a Canadian band or an American band, but someone like Neil Young, no matter how long he's been in the US, he will always be this iconic figure in Canada.
