A degree in archaeology might come in handy for today's Geo Quiz. We're looking for an ancient city in Mesopotamia. What is left of the city is in modern-day Iraq, just 20 miles south of Baghdad near the Tigris River.
The site features a giant brick arch that's more than 17 centuries old. Archeologists believe the arch used to be part of a royal palace near the city center. The ruins of this Mesopotamian city were the site of a major World War I battle in 1915. That's when Ottoman Empire forces defeated British troops attempting to capture Baghdad. Now it's an archeological site that the US government wants to protect.
The arch shares a name with the ancient city... and your job is to name them both.
