Our daily Geo Quiz is about sand storms over the Atlantic Ocean. The question is: where does the sand come from? Anchor Marco Werman gets the answer from Eric Achterberg, a researcher who's just back from a boat trip to study the storms. He says the sand comes from the Sahara Desert in Africa.

Right now, people around Asia are celebrating the Lunar New Year. The holiday is called "Tet" in Vietnam. And for some in that country, Tet brings memories of war. It was during Tet, 40 years ago, that North Vietnamese troops invaded the South. Vietnamese journalist Nguyen Qui Duc has has own personal memories of Tet.

Reporter Hadeel Al-Schalchi reports that soccer fans in Egypt are celebrating their national soccer team's victory in the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations. Egypt beat favorites Ivory Coast to advance to the tournament final on Sunday against Cameroon.

The World's Katy Clark reports that U.S. military prosecutors will seek the death penalty for six Guantánamo detainees charged in connection to the 9/11 attacks.

Lisa Mullins speaks with Terry Rockefeller, whose sister Laura perished on 9/11 in one of the World Trade Center towers, about her reaction to the news. Terry Rockefeller is opposed to the death penalty but she's hopeful that the proceedings against the 9/11 suspects could lead to a clearer picture of how the attacks were planned.

Tom Lantos (1928-2008)

The World's Jason Margolis has a remembrance of Congressman Tom Lantos. The California Democrat died today. Last month, he announced he was diagnosed with cancer. Lantos was the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the only Holocaust Survivor in the U.S. Congress.

The World's Gerry Hadden reports that Spain -- like the United States -- is experiencing problems with its housing market. Home prices in Spain have reached a ceiling, new construction has all but stopped, and there's a big surplus of unsold homes on the market.

Reporter Richard Reynolds tells us about a recycling program in Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires, that's helping some of the city's poor provide for their families...and regain some of their dignity.
