Iraq and US Congress report (4:30)

President Bush is expected to call for sending thousands of additional troops to Iraq, and many in the new Democratic-controlled Congress oppose that idea. Democratic Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts today proposed that there be no money for additional troops unless Congress approves. The World's Katy Clark reports.

Anchor Lisa Mullins speaks with Joseph Nye about the contentious issue of how Iraqis should share in the profits from their country's oil production. Competing factions have so far been unable to agree on formula for sharing oil revenues. Nye is a professor of International Relations at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.

Since losing the Presidential election in Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has declared himself Mexico's "legitimate president." Now he's launching a TV program, which he plans to use as a platform to criticize the presidency of Felipe Calderon. The World's Ruxandra Guidi has the story.

The Basque armed separatist group known as ETA has claimed responsibility for a massive bombing at Madrid's international airport December 30th. The announcement has caused Spain's government to call off peace talks with the group. The World's Gerry Hadden has the latest from Barcelona.
