Rice pledged today that the United States will redouble its efforts to improve the living conditions for the Palestinian people...but offered nothing concrete.

The World's Aaron Schachter reports on one man's dream to carve an oasis of Western-style relaxation from the chaos and violence of Kandahar, in southern Afghanistan. Mohammed Nassim is an Afghan-American entrepreneur who's about to open the first Western-style café and pool hall in Kandahar.

Host Lisa Mullins speaks with New York Times columnist Joe Sharkey, one of the survivors on board the business jet that collided with a commercial airliner over Brazil's Amazon rainforest last Friday. All 155 people on board the airliner died. None of the seven people on the business jet was hurt.

Kelly McEvers reports that Azerbaijan is reaping billions of dollars in new oil and gas revenues. But there are concerns in the former Soviet republic that these revenues won't benefit the majority of Azeris. Ms McEvers is on a fellowship with the International Reporting Project of the John Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
