Iran and North Korea report (3:45) July 7, 2006permalink
North Korea has been condemnation by much of the world for its missile tests earlier this week. But many in Iran say North Korea has the right to demonstrate its power to defend itself. Roxana Saberi has this report from Tehran.
Israel says it's continuing its offensive in Gaza to secure the release of the Israeli soldier recently abducted near the Gaza border and to punish the Palestinians for continuing to fire rockets at Israeli cities and towns. About 30 Palestinians have been killed in the past two days, most of them militants. One Israeli soldier was also killed. The World's Aaron Schachter has more.

The World's Marco Werman reports on a rap group in Britain that's about to release a song that appears to glorify suicide bombers. The group "Fun-da-mental" is being criticized for being insensitive to the suffering of those who died or were injured in the terrorist attacks in London a year ago today.
Sectarian violence in Iraq (3:25) July 10, 2006permalink
The World's Jessie Graham has an update on the surge in sectarian violence in and around the Iraqi capital in the past two days. The main Sunni bloc in parliament has called on the United Nations to deploy a force from Arab and Islamic countries to try to stop the violence.
Rumsfeld visit to Afghanistan (3:35) July 10, 2006permalink
Host Lisa Mullins speaks with reporter Natalia Antalava about Donald Rumsfeld's visit to Tajikistan today. Tajikistan is becoming more important as a geographic ally - it's next to Afghanistan. Rumsfeld may discuss the possibility of a US base there.
