After a long and very public trial, Oscar Pistorius will not be convicted of murder — but he could still go to prison for "culpable homicide." Many South Africans were shocked by the acquittal for murder, since Pistorius did not come off well during the trial.
South African sprinter Oscar Pistorius was sentenced on Tuesday to five years in prison for killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. The case also held symbolic meaning as a popular white athlete was sentenced by a black female judge.
Some news agencies are already saying the Pistorius trial could be South Africa's very own OJ Simpson-style trial. Host Aaron Schachter speaks with journalist Des Latham, news editor of SummitTV in Johannesburg.
