A newly introduced fish is rapidly reproducing in the Great Lakes. The Goby fish, originally from Russia, is thriving in all five of the Lakes. Bob Carty of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reports on the proliferation of this non-native species and its impact on the food chain.

Doug Johnson of Michigan Public Radio reports on a major new anti-pollution plan for the Great Lakes, which for the first time would impose common pollution standards in all eight Great Lakes states. The standards are aimed at reducing the flow of toxic substances into the lakes and the food chain.

The Great Lakes are threatened by carp and the proposed solution is to cut the connection between Lake Michigan and the Mississippi River basin. President Obama has agreed to conduct a study, but waiting too long for a solution may be detrimental.
