Dust storm

A huge sandstorm that originated over the Sahara Desert is traveling on the wind across the Atlantic Ocean toward the Caribbean. Jason Dunion, a hurricane investigator with Atlantic Oceanographic Meteorological Laboratory of NOAA, says sandstorms are interesting weather phenomenon that impact hurricane formation and create spectacular sunsets.

Noxious dust storms rising up from Mongolia have plagued Korea. Now a small group of Korean and Mongolian activists are working together to attack the problem by planting trees in the Gobi desert. The World’s Daniel Grossman has the story.
