In today’s globalized and fast-changing world, international security issues have morphed beyond political and military conflicts between nations. Cyber-sabotage, asymmetric warfare, terrorism, weapons trafficking, climate change, and depletion of natural resources are all threats that straddle borders and affect international security for all of us. This project puts the perspectives of a younger, global generation front and center. How are they meeting the challenge of these transnational threats?

A Sri Lankan girl living in Lebanon isn't really a citizen of either country

Rainey’s parents came to Lebanon from Sri Lanka 20 years ago to get away from their country’s civil war. In fact, Lebanon has become something of a haven for a quarter million migrant workers from Asia and Africa, who tend to be employed as maids, trash collectors, and gas station attendants. They come to escape economic and political hardship back home.

No one in the West understood what the war in Afghanistan was really about

A new book documents the insurgency in Afghanistan's Helmand province, where British, and later US, forces struggled to put a lid on the Taliban. Author Mike Martin is a British army officer who interviewed 150 locals to try to learn about the insurgency. The British Ministry of Defense paid for his research, but tried to stop him from publishing his findings.
